  • Cantarell field in Mexico falling fast as gas cap expands down struc - GLG News: The Rigzone Newsletter quoted the Xinhua News Agency on April 22 reporting that Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) said first quartet output was 2.667 million bbl/day, down 7.8%from the same period in 2008. Cantarell produced 787,000 bbl/day down 34% from last year. Cantarell is the largest producing region in Mexico. Ku-Maloob-Zaap is now the largest producer with production of 797,000 bbl/day. The Cantarell Complex which includes both offshore fields accounted for 60% of Mexico?s production. Pemex thought it would average 2.8 million bbl/day for 2009 but has now lowered that estimate to 2.6 million.

  • PINR - Economic Brief: Brazil Announces Size of Tupi Oil Field: Tupi Oil Field'� 39; he sudden November 8 announcement of the size of the Tupi oil field has pushed Brazil into a delicate and potentially powerful economic and political position in the Americas. Petrobras, the Brazilian state-run oil company, has known about the field for more than a year. Up until now, however, they have been tight lipped as to the size of Tupi, which is located off the southeastern coast of Brazil. Petrobras recently cast aside their silent treatment in regard to the field, which was revealed to have between five and eight billion barrels of crude oil and natural gas. The possibilities of this new development have ramifications for three main actors: Brazil, Venezuela and the United States.

  • RIGZONE - Dana Gas Eyes First Gas from Northern Iraq in September: Dana Gas, the United Arab Emirates-based oil and gas company, will start natural gas production from a gas field in northern Iraq in September and is preparing to drill appraisal wells at a second field next year, a top company executive said Thursday. The Abu Dhabi stock market-listed firm will start production of 75 million-cubic- feet-a-day of gas from the Khoomor field in the Kurdish region under an early production facility "next month," Finance Director Neeraj Agrawal told Zawya Dow Jones in a phone interview.

  • NewsWatch: Energy: Anadarko: Viva la Deepwater: Anadarko Petroleum hit pay dirt -- rather, net oil pay -- at its Heidelberg field in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The company says a discovery well in the field, which is near its Constitution oil and gas platform about 190 miles southwest of New Orleans, hit more than 200 feet of net oil pay in the Miocene trend below a layer of thick salt. Analysts say that could equate to a discovery of at least 100 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. Anadarko' s announcement today came a few weeks after the company revealed that a test well in offshore Ghana flowed nearly 17,000 barrels of oil per day.
